Forgotten Doll No. 2 - 2 by wingdthing Forgotten Doll No. 2 - 2 by wingdthing
New sculpt for the week of July 15 2009. One of a kind polymer clay sculpture by Nicole West.

This is the second in the series of Forgotten Dolls. I've found that it is rather cathartic to take something perfect and pretty and then dirty it up. Highly recommended fun.

Im feeling it, I remeber a song that my mom used to sing for me when I was little, the name of the song is "The ugly doll" (La muñeca fea" in spanish>_<;)and the song is about a forgotten doll hidden in a dusty corner. I used to think that I was that lonely doll ...*sigh* What memories...Thanks for the insparation!^-^

Btw how did you get into this type of doll making?

When I was a kid I found out my mom had a doll collection that her mother gave away. She would buy unusal dolls here and there so I decided to make her one. I myself was a tomboy growing up and hated dolls, so it's pretty funny that I started making them.
But, FYI, I don't consider what I do to be "dolls". I know that's what people call them, but you can't dress them, play with them or pose them, so they really are not dolls. My little way of sliding around that definition. ;)

The whole pose and posture work so well with the facial expression that it's long moments before I start to notice all the other supporting details, equally well integrated; outstanding work!
