Wild Faun 1 by wingdthing Wild Faun 1 by wingdthing
New sculpt for the week of 1/12/10. One of a kind polymer clay fantasy sculpture by Nicole West.

So, I've decided that I'm going to try more unconventional pieces this year. I'll still do what I'm known for, but I'm going to throw more curveballs.

This piece is utterly inspired by this gorgeous painting:

At first glance I thought it was a photomanipulation... At second glance I still thought it must be a photo.

It's absolutely stunning, really life-like (for a fantasy creature), perhaps the only thing I would change is the tail (and make it of a kind of fur, or like her hair). But omg, absolutely stunning!

Beautiful indeed as is every piece you create. I have said it a bunch, and I will say it again the level of detail is unprecedented. Such mastery of skills!

There is something remarkably naturalistic about how you pose these figures. They are a joy to study. :sherlock:

And with this sculpture, I am beginning to think that you might be just the person to model a character of mine....

How do you style her hair and get it to stay like that?

It's kind of the nature of the hair. It is really light and will stay like that on it's own.

Was this the other mythical beast you were talking about when you did the centaur? If so... you didn't disappoint. I'd accept a squeezing hug from such a talented on anyday with pride. :glomp:

Your characters exude a sensuality, and the anatomy is, well I could grovel some more about how good you are. I think these are your most stunning items, and the interesting part is even with non-human anatomy you are so skilled. Me rambling again...
